different

a few posts ago i discussed the grammatical errors in high school musical songs. i would now like to add something to that.

according to dictionary.com, under note on usage:
"Although it is frequently claimed that different should be followed only by from, not by than, in actual usage both words occur and have for at least 300 years. From is more common today in introducing a phrase, but than is also used: New York speech is different from (or than) that of Chicago. Than is used to introduce a clause: The stream followed a different course than the map showed. In sentences of this type, from is sometimes used instead of than; when it is, more words are necessary: a different course from the one the map showed. Regardless of the sentence construction, both from and than are standard after different in all varieties of spoken and written American English. In British English to frequently follows different: The early illustrations are very different to the later ones. The use of different in the sense “unusual” is well established in all but the most formal American English: The décor in the new restaurant is really different."

so technically "in a way that's different than who we are" is correct. =D

and we should all be using "different to" if we want to use strictly British English XD

i usually use british... out of habit and because officially that's what we should be using (well yeah in australia too) but then again sometimes i get mixed up XD

on thursday night i had a dream that the hostel was on fire cause of an electrical malfunction which caused a blackout and explosion and stuff and then it was night time and my roommate tried to get me up to escape but i was too tired and couldn't get up at all and i was practically glued to my bed and i couldn't move. then i woke up and was slightly creeped out but well not scared... for some reason my dreams don't scare me. and then i went back to sleep. and then later at night early in the morning the fire alarm went off (like it always does... the fire alarm has been sounded and the cause is being investigated please remain calm and wait for further instructions) at like 5 am and i woke up and then i went back to sleep again and when i had to wake up again for school i realised what had happened and made the connection and was like oooo....

and i've been so sleepy lately i've been falling asleep in the middle of work and then waking up again later
