and once the word had been spoken there was no taking it back, no retreating once more into the solace of a pointed ignorance, a quiet contemplation, or a haughty glare. they say silence is the best answer, but what do you say once that answer is forfeited, once that silence is broken? it is, after all, the answer that cannot ever be replaced. what do you say when what you were supposed to say was nothing?
