so sweet that you can't help smiling

and so, i received my first birthday present this year.

a beautiful notebook, and a little teddy bear, handed to me in the most simplest and sincerest of ways.

darryl walked me down from roll call as usual, despite the fact that he was sick and he really could have just told the ra that he was asleep and skipped roll call altogether, but then again he's darryl, so yeah. then at the gate he just casually mentioned that well, i'd be in hong kong during my birthday wouldn't i, and i said yes, and he said well then he might as well give me his present now.

i dunno, there's something about surprises that just, make people so happy, and it was all so sincere, and darrylish XD

haha so then he handed me this notebook from his pocket. it's a little smaller than my hand, around A6 size, though not in proportion. it's the kind of notebook that's made out of paper that has leaves and flowers pressed into it, with it's off-white colour and roughish texture, yet soft and delicate, almost like a flower itself. yeah this is that kind of notebook. it has two elephants, made of metal, on the front, one big one small, with the word "THAILAND" engraved on the ground where they walk. a pencil is tied to the cover with the thick brown string that binds the entire book together. the words "Note Book" are written in brown ink on the top in stylish handwriting. the entire notebook is a piece of artwork altogether...

i've gotten a notebook like this, ages ago, though not as decorated. the other one just had a pencil on the front. but i had the same reaction when i saw it as i do now. it's so pretty and beautiful... i can't make myself write on it!

haha... but then, i think this time, i'll try my best to fill it with something meaningful. maybe some of my better poetry (haha if i can call any of it better) or... some nice verses from the bible? i dunno... wow it's so nice =)

i'll start writing on it on my birthday =)

and the other thing he gave me was a little teddy bear. it's light brown and furry, with the classic teddy bear features - triangle nose and upside-down Y mouth, with little black eyes set far apart - sewed in black thread. it seems to give a slight smile at you when you look at it, it's head tilted a little to the side, as if regarding you with an innocent and joyful heart. it's wearing a light blue dress, with some flowers at the waist area - yellow and blue - , and a matching blue rose in it's hair. there's a loop made blue ribbon attached to the head so you can hang it somewhere... i'm still thinking of where it can go.. =)

haha whee... it's nice to get gifts =)

so i was bouncing around and thanking him. and he's like you've said that enough already XD

whee...

mm... yay

oh yeah. i know perfectly well why there's no card XD after making two mothers' day cards last week, his artistic talents, however limited, were fully exhausted, and he decided that he would be smarter the next time any event came around and just skip the card part XD haha
but really, even i haven't tried drawing my mum's face simply from a photograph XD

hmm...

wow what a nice day. actually, what nice days i've been having. sleeping in and reading all day and getting strange meals (haha) and not a single bit of homework... and today this and tomorrow... i'm gonna see phantom of the opera!
