days like this make me wonder

the morning was spent sleeping in (i stayed up past 3 watching house) and doing things. i read TIME and the pronounciation page on the sigur rós website and played guitar, which are all completely academically unproductive but otherwise practical and enriching. bizarre how paradoxical the education system is, isn't it? though it's no use complaining, because people made it and we'll be the people making it in the future so we'd better come up with something good by then, don't you think? i stole some biscuits from divya because i missed breakfast. drank milo. and coffee. instant coffee is horrible.

now i know the difference

in the evening we crashed ms tan's house after guitar (we were only told about it a few hours beforehand so heh last minute whee) dragging our guitars with us all the way down upper thomson road (the lack of a p in thomson bugs me and i don't know why) took us ages to find her place. it was really nice though, with a yard and stuff, and a room with an entire wall of shelves full of books. she let us raid it and get books we liked, to keep in custody heh.

Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë - printed at a time where they didn't have the custom of writing the year of publication in the book - black hardcover, gold embossing
The Princess Bride by William Goldman - 1973, this version 1998 - something abi's ranted to me about before, should be interesting (it has a pretty modern cover with illustrations and such)
The Poetical Works of Blake, edited by John Sampson - 1928 - red hardcover, gold embossing, spine faded and falling off
Selected Poems of William Blake, edited by F. W. Bateson - 1957 - black hardcover, embossing with something that is possibly gold (too faded to tell)
Rasselas by Dr. Samuel Johnson - 1759, this version 1886 - brown hardcover, gold embossing, black decorative print
Victory by Joseph Conrad - 1915, this version 1928 - brick red hardcover, gold embossing
La Linea D'ombra by Joseph Conrad, illustrated by Flavio Constantini - 1989 (though it was originally written/illustrated in the 1920s) - it's quite big and weighty. it's also in Italian
Hotere - Out the Black Window, compiled by Gregory O'Brien- 1997 - poetry and artwork
PhotoAlto - 2000 - Royalty-Free Digital Photo Library, it has the most spectacular photos i've seen in a long time
12 Angry Men - 1956, this version 2003 - bought for ₤7.99 on sale, this is in fact an (unopened) DVD

edit: i found the year of publication of Wuthering Heights later in the editor's notes which was after the biographical notice which was after the introduction of the book- 1850

to be honest, i didn't choose most of the books because i would read them, but because they were so old and they just looked... wow.

seriously, i have an obsession with old dusty yellowing books with leather spines or cloth bindings and when you touch the pages it just feels like you're holding a piece of the past (so delicate and fragile) and you darent hold it too long cause then it feels like you're waking it from it's lengthly sleep and you just might break the magic by imposing your presence onto it...

yeah... ok

the photo book is really nice though

and i want to read the italian book. i could understand... some parts that explained about the author and stuff =D

12 angry men! gasp .

and yeah. the princess bride.

ok so, we raided her shelf, and we talked, and we had jelly (traffic lights) somewhere in between doro came along. her relatives were really nice, heh.

and whee, local TV? i... cringe whenever i watch it nowadays. ehh...

the sky was so clear tonight.

guitar was fun, we asked daniel for "boring theory stuff" and haha we tried the chords-from-a-certain-key thing... major minor minor major major minor sus major whee. quite fun. even though it's rather dry. i guess i like these things. like the CAGE system! really useful

random thought: i should start tagging my posts. though i feel annoyed cause then my older posts aren't tagged and i don't have time to go back and tag them now so ah well i won't.

eventually we started talking about piano and stuff XD yeah. we really digress a lot during these lessons

sigh

stress comes in bouts these days. like... vhWOOM Szhoom szhoom oom... zhoom zhoom... vHWOOM SZHOOM Szhoom zhoom oom... yeah. which are rather strange sound effects.

on and off and on

rather distracted these days. gah

i want to... do well. at the same time i want to have fun and enjoy the way things are right now. the second kind of comes as first priority, and it has been especially since about 2 years ago. i guess? and though i do alright and average i can't help wanting to push myself further. it's just not that possible to do your best in your studies while enjoying every minute of life, as in real life, not just studying. at least for me, i think there's more to teenage life than working for the future. how about the present?

reputation is something that is meaningless yet can mean everything to some people. it's just how it is.

i look at him, and him, and her, and her, and her, and i know how much it hurts, so much that it hurts me too. is this good?

my toe hurts (psychic toenail)

these days, i have a tendency to think more about myself, and forget about others... gah

distracted

a break... would be good

but breaks just mean we'll be back later

(i want to go back to london. it was nice there.)

though without some direction i guess we're all lost in life

gah

(pinpoint me then, the way you see me, the way i should go. but no, you never will. i guess it's all about expectations, like you said, and consequences, like you said. and i hate it when you're right about things like these. cause then it's all just pointless. and i don't understand where your heart could possibly be)

things i think and never say

writing too much poetry and too little prose. stories with beginnings and ends but nothing in between. plays? maybe some day. for now i'll just stick to blogging.

taking control of the drama club is tough but i'm enjoying it. it's extremely worrisome cause i'm not sure how to handle it and i just really want to make it good for everyone. and i don't know what they're thinking and if they have something better in mind. at least there's still them to talk to it about...

second week, yeah

but it's good.

however hard it is

we need to find some way to breathe
